Healing Journey Programs - Phoenix and Oskinigiikwe

Healing Journey is a harm reduction program based on the Ojibwe tradition “Zhoo-way-nah-dig”, or “taking care of one another”. It is a unique approach designed to improve the overall quality of life for chronic substance abusers. Phoenix Project is a partnership with the Division of Indian Work of Minneapolis to extend outreach to 13 – 17 year old girls at risk of being exploited. Oskinigiikwe Program was based on the success of Healing Journey, and provides personalized case management for younger women and teens.

With our help, she is now in stable housing and has applied for financial assistance to start a new business. She credits MIWRC’s Family Housing Specialist with helping her find a safe place for her and her granddaughter to live and dream. ”
